Professor Basie Solms from the University of Johannesburg recently presented a controversial paper in Melbourne in which he argued that the Security Industry is like the proverbial emperor’s clothes. The Pubcast team took a trip through to his offices to find out why.

Basie Solms holds a somewhat jaundiced view of the effectiveness of IT Security today: “It is our duty as information Security practitioners to make it heard from all platforms that IT systems are becoming so complex that we doubt whether they can still be properly protected in all cases”.

Strong words – but Basie substantiates his view in this discussion held in his office at the University of Johannesburg.
