Changes PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 02 September 2010
DiscussIT has seemed fairly quiet recently. However, as always, what finally emerges on the site does not reflect everything that happens in the background.

The team - and the site - is undergoing substantial change, though.
  • The Gadget team finds their day-job lives have changed to such a degree that it has become impossible to devote enough time to keeping the podcast alive. They provided some of the most entertaining moments I experienced, and I am truly sorry that they have found it necessary to move on. To Franco and the team: thanks for the time and effort. I will never forget watching the team smash a cellphone with a hammer in episode 2.
  • Similarly, Cara is leaving the country for a while, and so Just Football Mzansi will have to adapt to the loss. I always felt that she balanced Lucien's serious nature with a lighthearted love for the game. Cara - you'll be missed by both your listeners and myself. JFM has also been quiet while Lucien recuperates from illness, but will be reconstituted and start up again soon.
  • On a more positive note, DiscussIT it spreading its wings - Nombulelo is working with our old friend Haroon Meer of Thinkst, as well as two unnamed organisations to put together a conference, which we hope will change some preconceptions. It's too early to say any more than that - but we hope to out together something that will interest many of you.
So - although change is rampant, DiscussIT continues. Those listening to Pubcast will have noted that Stephan Buys has joined the team, and we will soon introduce new members on JFM, and the (still unnamed) replacement to Gadget. I continue to be surrounded by committed and willing people that give their time to help us keep these conversations alive.

Karabo Mathang  is the only FIFA accredited and licensed football agent in the country - an astonishing achievement for a 23 year old woman who started her business from the boot of her car.

Scamto - Homecoming PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 30 April 2010

Each South African that goes overseas loses this country jobs and skills. Often people also find that the world overseas is not as rosy as they imagined.

Cognisant of the problem, South African organisations are stepping up to the plate to not only persuade South Africans to return, but to also assist them to do so.
